 | | GREEN THUMB GLOVE BOX Jan in Minnesota/Wisconsin:It's hard to imagine the peeking buds, but warm weather will be here sooner than you think!- Keep snow piled on beds or mulches topped as long as possible to keep plants from freezing at night.
- Prune late flowering shrubs (June-July).
- Prune the Smokebush, Butterfly bush, and Russian Sage to just a few inches above the soil.
- Also in early spring, prune Alpine Currant, Arborvitae, Hardy Kiwi, Hydrangea, Japanese Spirea, Potentilla, Tartarian Dogwood, and Yellow or Purple leaved Elderberries.
- Depending on when the plants'll go in the ground, get those seedlings going!
